Privacy Policy

Overview

FreeToolKit ("we", "us", or "our") operates freetoolkit.io. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website. The short version: we collect as little as possible, your files never leave your device, and we do not sell your data.

Tool File Processing — Your Files Stay on Your Device

All tool processing on FreeToolKit.io happens entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. This includes PDF compression, image resizing, file conversion, code formatting, and every other tool on the site.

No files you process with our tools are ever uploaded to or stored on our servers. Your documents, images, and data are processed locally by your device and are never transmitted to any server, third party, or cloud service. This is a core architectural decision, not just a policy — our tools are designed to work without any server communication for file operations.

Information We Collect

Usage analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous usage data, including pages visited, tools used, and general device/browser information. This data is aggregated and never tied to personally identifiable information. GA4 operates under Google's privacy policy and data processing terms.

Contact form submissions: If you contact us via our contact page, we receive your name, email address, and message. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not shared with third parties.

Newsletter subscriptions: If you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address for the purpose of sending tool updates and guides. You can unsubscribe at any time.

IP addresses: Our server logs may temporarily record IP addresses for security and abuse prevention purposes. These are not used for tracking individual users.

Google AdSense and Advertising

FreeToolKit uses Google AdSense to serve display advertisements on our website. Google AdSense may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to show you advertisements based on your browsing history and interests across websites you've visited.

Google AdSense uses the DoubleClick cookie to serve ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info.

Third-party ad vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website or other websites. We do not control the cookies or tracking technologies used by our advertising partners.

Google Consent Mode v2

FreeToolKit implements Google Consent Mode v2. By default, all analytics and advertising consent signals are set to "denied" until you make a choice via our cookie consent banner. This means Google Analytics and AdSense operate in a privacy-preserving mode — using modelling rather than cookies — until you explicitly accept cookies.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings option in our site footer, or by clearing your browser cookies and making a new selection when the banner reappears.

Cookies

Essential cookies: Session storage is used to remember tool preferences (such as dismissed banners) within a single browser session. These do not track you across websites.

Analytics cookies: Google Analytics 4 uses cookies to collect anonymous usage data. These are only set if you accept analytics cookies in our consent banner.

Advertising cookies: Google AdSense may set cookies to serve personalised advertisements. These are only active if you accept advertising cookies in our consent banner.

You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: You can request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to erasure: You can ask us to delete your personal data.
  • Right to data portability: You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object: You can object to processing of your personal data for direct marketing.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@freetoolkit.io. We respond within 30 days.

How to Withdraw Consent

To update your cookie preferences, click the "Cookie Settings" link in our site footer, or clear your browser's cookies and revisit the site to see the consent banner again. You can also disable cookies globally through your browser settings, though this may affect site functionality.

Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained for up to 2 years for customer support purposes. Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data collected via Google Analytics 4 follows Google's standard data retention periods (default: 14 months).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of FreeToolKit after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
